The story begins as the thousandth android, known simply as 1k, is activated and welcomed as the fulfillment of that long-standing goal. During the celebration, a ghostly projection of a figure named Prometheus warns of new trials ahead, and distant sensors detect a massive surge of energy far from the city. Free of the political disagreements dividing the androids, 1k joins an expedition to investigate, uncovering a vast pyramid-like megastructure whose physics-defying technologies confront the androids with unsettling questions about consciousness, knowledge, and their own future.
