When the hero Link vanishes into one of these rifts while trying to rescue her, Princess Zelda returns to Hyrule Castle only to find imposters posing as the king and his advisors, who frame her for the disaster and imprison her. With the help of a fairy named Tri, Zelda escapes and receives the Tri Rod, a magical artifact that lets her create echoes, copies of objects and creatures she has seen. Setting out across Hyrule, she works to seal the growing rifts, free those trapped in the Still World, and uncover the true source of the calamity threatening her kingdom, all while searching for a way to save Link.
